In
1902 “Indiana Central University” was founded after the United Brethren
Christ church.

It’s
doors opened in 1905 to 74 students and 10 faculty members, led by President
Rev. Dr. John T. Roberts.

By
1921 the newly named “Indiana Central College” had intercollegiate sports
and academic teams.
v
To
enhance school pride, in 1926, the greyhound became the school mascot.
v
In
1986 the school became affiliated with the Methodist church and the school’s
name was changed for the final time to the “University of Indianapolis.”
v
Today,
total enrollment of 4,000 includes full and part-time undergraduate and graduate
students.

U
of I houses a diverse student body that includes students from many different
states and over 60 different nations.
v
The
University of Indianapolis continues to grow, with rising International
enrollment, the construction of a fifth residence hall, and a newly remodeled
Schwitzer Student Center.
